Grief Discovery Support Group

            The
2nd Monday of each month

7:00-8:30pm in the All Saints Chapel (Nall Campus)

This small group has met on the second Monday of every month for twenty years.  Its members have changed over time, but many of them would tell you that they have found the grief group to be very helpful to them as they process the ups and downs of grief.  The group opens with a brief prayer and sharing (optional) about the loss that brings them to the group.  Each month we discuss a different topic concerning grief.  The group is facilitated by Deborah Grantham, a Bereavement Counselor, and a small team of volunteers, many of which have experienced their own losses.  Everyone is invited to share their thoughts, but no one has to.  We close with prayer and then have a time for dessert and coffee.  This is a very safe environment where you can express any thought or emotion without feeling judged and confidentiality is assured.

In January October we discuss a different aspect of grief.

In November, we host "Light a Candle for Love" which is a prayer service of remembrance.  This is our most attended event and many people who lost loved ones years and years ago come back for this service each November.  It's a very meaningful time of honoring and remembering our loved ones who have died.

The next "Light a Candle for Love" is November 13th, 2006 at 7pm.

In December, instead of a regular meeting, we host "A Haven from the Holidays."  We make a memory ornament, team members perform a funny skit and we all enjoy one another's company over hors d'oeuvres and refreshments.  The intent of this time is to provide a haven from the fast-paced holidays that tend to be especially overwhelming to those who are grieving.

The next "Haven from the Holidays" is December 11th, 2006 at 7pm.
